The Verify Door History File:
(changes listed from the latest to the earliest)
The Verify Door has come a long way since its first release on 6-19-1990.
The earliest part of this history file has been deleted in an effort
to make the final zip file a little smaller.
05-15-94 v1.25
* Fixed something that has been overlooked all this time: When a user,
who has something other than the new user access level that you
configured TVD for, enters TVD, TVD would send the user back to
PCBoard telling him/her that the door is for new users only AND
put an entry TVD: Aborted on comment line #2 in the users file.
This in turn messes up the operation of TCBVPK11. Sorry for over-
looking that all this time, my fellow sysops, however it has been
FIXED! While there is nothing wrong with the pack program, TVD has
been fixed so that it will no longer modify comment line #2 when a
user enters the door with a higher or lower access level than what
you have configured as the new user level in the TVD config file.
The setup program was updated to include settings for adding days
to the user expiration date and also to ensure that the sysop was
properly updating the TCBVAREA file with his own local area code.
Documentation and registration form have been updated. We now
accept MasterCard or VISA credit cards for sysop registration of TVD.
01-15-93 v1.24r2
* Re-released to update the author's new mailing and registration
address.
08-10-92 v1.24
* Fixed an unintentional oops where the unregistered version 1.23 would
not update the user security level. No other changes were made.
08-02-92 v1.23
* Added sysop configuration for optional user expiration date update.
* Fixed a typo in the WELCOMEG file
* Added multi-lingual (foreign language) capability (finally!)
* Added the ability for TVD to enter a comment on comment line
#2 of the user's record if verification is UNsuccessful
04-04-92 v1.22
* TVD is now written with 286/386 specific code
* Added the ability for TVD to turn off MNP on an MNP modem when
dialing out to a non-mnp modem. Provision was also made for
sysops who do not have an error correcting modem
* Added the ability for TVD to dial long distance at different times
on Saturday and Sunday than during the week (See docs on the TCBVTIME file)
* Added the ability for TVD to use either the old or new TCBVTIME
file formats to allow for sysops who forget/do not wish to update it,
and to allow for mixed formats within the file.
* Added the ability for the sysop to abort TVD by hitting SHIFT+F1 at just
about any time during TVD execution.
* Added automatic desqview detection. If desqview is detected, TVD will now
relinquish time slices while waiting for keyboard/user input and during
timer countdowns if desqview is detected.
* Upgrade directions were causing some confusion and have been updated
01-24-92 v1.21 The Verify Door v1.21 implements a new and faster data
transmission routine that implements improved RTS/CTS flow control
and should be compatible with a wider range of modem brands and setups.
TVD is also now much faster at detecting lost carrier.
01-04-92 v1.20 The Verify Door v1.20 implements sysop suggested
enhancements to the log file output and status bar display.
* The log now gives much more detail about what the user does when in TVD.
* Status bar now displays various countdown timers to aid the sysop
in 'tweaking' the door's configurable time delays.
* Enhanced modem no response timeout routines
* No Answer timeout feature was added to TVD and is included in the
modem no response timeout setting.
* Added DOS Errorlevel output (registered version only) when TVD
finishes execution. (See docs)
* Added automatic pulse dialing detection and delays to allow for
more reliable pulse dialing in appropriate places in TVD
11-22-91 v1.19 The Verify Door v1.18 did not have any known bugs and this
release contains some suggested enhancements.
TVD door documentation has been updated to include dialing string setup
information that up to this point has been available only to users who
could 'read between the lines'.
Added features this release:
* Separately configurable number of dial-out attempts for both long distance
and local calling.
* Configurable modem no-response timeout (in seconds)
Further changes have been made in the setup program to make it run a
little better. Setup will now upgrade the config file(s) to be
compatible with this new version of TVD. (Please see UPGRADE.DOC)
07-27-91 v1.18 The Verify Door v1.17 did not have any bugs and has proven
to be a very reliable version. The setup program wasn't perfect, though,
so some changes have been made to allow it to find it's way around your
system more accurately.
Some enhancements have been made to the v1.17 code such as detecting
a user with an Error Correcting modem, enhanced dialing string abilities,
and a few other goodies talked about in the WHATSNEW file.
